Tuning outfit ABT, which is known for turning VW Group products into megaproducts, is at it again. At the 2011 Geneva show, ABT announced the arrival of the Spyder R8 GT S, a car based on the Audi R8 Spyder. Drama is what this car is all about. If the pictures aren’t enough to convince you, check out the performance stats.
ABT has changed the characteristics of the 5.2-litre V10 engine from one that is a naturally aspirated, 386kW beast, to a 456kW tooth crusher. The car is said to disappear from 0 – 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, eventually topping off at 320km/h. No guy has ever come out publicly to explain what happens to a toupee at 320km/h, neither has a woman ever admitted to losing a wig at such speeds.
An even harder suspension was created to go with more performance. A sports exhaust system is said to emit seriously orgasmic sounds. At its feet are 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, specially forged by ABT.
Red and black are the signature colours adopted by ABT, and so you will see plenty of that combo in and outside the R8 GT S.
